Dark Skies

Tears streamed down my face
like a water stream.
I said, oh eyes why do you cry?
They said,
All we have seen are dark days in the sky.
The left said,
I've been the best I could when I'm free.
The right protested.
There were claps from the sea.
One hand in my lap,
The other one on my knee.
Tears were all over me.
I wonder in the still silence
What I had invested.
Common sense gave me an out.
But misery had my heart rearrested.
Anguish gave out a shout,
Back here again!
How could this be.
